What to Recycle: The Basics

The Town of Lillington, through CTS, provides residential curbside recycling collection.

Recyclable items should be free of food debris. Rinse glass, metal, and plastic containers before placing them in your recycling bin.

Plastic bags are not accepted in your curbside bin. (Do not bag your recyclable materials, place recyclables directly in your bin. Bags can jam sorting equipment.) However, most grocery stores have collection boxes.

Any item smaller than 2 inches should not be recycled in your curbside bin; these small items will become lost in recycling center sorting equipment.

I'm a new resident. How do I get rid of my moving boxes?

Break down all boxes and place up to 7 boxes in a 3'x3' square stack beside your curb the night before your scheduled pick-up. See below for a schedule of every-other week recycling pickup days. Households with more than 7 boxes per pickup cycle can take the excess to a Harnett County Landfill or contact Solid Waste (910) 814-6156.

All packing materials need to be placed in your garbage cart. This includes materials such as Styrofoam, plastic bags, bubble wrap, etc.
