Downtown Lillington Master Plan

The Downtown Lillington Master Plan was adopted by the Town Board of Commissioners on March 10, 2020. The project began in May 2019 and was made possible through a Downtown Revitalization Grant from the North Carolina Department of Commerce, and technical expertise and assistance from consulting firm Stuart, Inc. A Downtown Steering Committee made up of local business owners, residents, and Town staff conducted public engagement sessions and held a series of meetings throughout the process. Developing the plan included careful analysis of Lillington's history, character and current conditions, resulting in specific recommendation and the short and long-term strategies to implement them.

Current Downtown Revitalization Efforts

Downtown Lillington is the heart of our community. The downtown area is a vibrant place, with charming historic buildings, an intact street grid, and connections to residential neighborhoods. Downtown is home to several government offices, the Chamber of Commerce, and many small businesses, making this an employment hub. Lillington is in the process of revitalizing the downtown area, with the aim of attracting more local businesses. Downtown is the heart of our community, and our new long-range plan will address transportation, utilities, accessibility, and parking making the downtown area enjoyable and accessible for all citizens.
