Long-Range Planning & Special Projects

Long-Range Planning & Special Projects

The Town of Lillington is experiencing growth, meaning there are several long-range projects within the area. Long-range planning is integral to the success of our community, and helps shape Town priorities, goals, and objectives into the future. Long-range plans encompass residential and commercial growth, transportation plans, revitalization efforts, and land use plans. Long-range plans are broad in nature and serve as a guideposts in various areas for communities and town staff to plan for and navigate change within the community.

Current Development

  • Residential Development:
    • As of 2025, there are roughly 11,000 approved residential lots within Lillington. New residential developments make housing more accessible to those looking to call Lillington their home. While most of these homes are single-family detached dwellings, there is a mix of town homes in many of these subdivisions, too.
    • Lillington is located just south of Wake County, making it the ideal market for homebuyers who seek a more rural lifestyle with proximity to the industry found in Wake County.
    • Lillington aims to become a destination for residents, where community members can shop, play, eat, live, and work in town. With increasing industry, great outdoor recreation opportunities, and good educational opportunities, Lillington is the ideal community for all people.
  • Commercial Development:
    • Tractor Supply Company: This new storefront is being constructed along NC 210 South. This new addition to Town will provide a great retail option in the area.
    • Local Time Brewery: Located on West Ivey Street, Local Time Brewery will provide an excellent gathering space for community members. With both indoor and outdoor seating options, the brewery will allow individuals to connect while supporting a local business.
